K’naan
November 23, 2011
This music fills me with joy. I thought I’d share.
I first heard this song in the opening of a climbing video, and used Shazam to identify it.
Once I realized it was K’naan I found I also knew a couple other songs of his – “Take a Minute” and also the official song of the 2010 World Cup (“When I get older, I will be stronger, etc”).
My favorite line of In the Beginning is “It’s better to light a candle than to curse the dark.”
Comment or “like” if you enjoy. Thanks.

November 23, 2011LOVE this!!! This is exactly what I’ve been talking to people about lately … where is this “freedom” our forefathers fought for? As far as i can see, we’ve just given ourselves up to a different form of slavery. We get to choose how we live out our few free hours, but we’re never truly “free”. We’re shackled to a system and mined for our manpower, thrown away as quickly as we’re used up … something needs to change. I’m just not sure we CAN change anymore. It would take a full breakdown of the system. I don’t think anyone’s prepared for the kind of pain that will cause. I’m working on a less painful way to make real change work, but it will take a Nation (or many nations) changing the way they treat people, education and policies that no longer serve our society, but are serving a few who have worked the system to their advantage. Hmmmmm … would love to pick your brain for a day!
