Connection as a Result of Authenticity
August 4, 2011
Of course you know that relationships are important. But what are the keys to really unlocking the truest quality of human connection? It goes beyond being kind, loyal, and trustworthy.
In order for connection to happen, we have to let ourselves be seen. Really seen. Seen for who we are, and not who we want people to think we are. And for most of us, being vulnerable is uncomfortable. I know it is for me.
This is one of my all-time favorite TED talks. From TED’s own description:
Brene Brown studies human connection — our ability to empathize, belong, love. In a poignant, funny talk at TEDxHouston, she shares a deep insight from her research, one that sent her on a personal quest to know herself as well as to understand humanity.
